Episode 14 – OSB F Tayler Thompson, Lightning Rumors and Senior Sidney!

 

Listen to “Episode 14 – OSB F Tayler Thompson, Lightning Rumors and Senior Sidney!” on Spreaker.(0:35) Fresh off his OT Winner for the Solar Bears this past weekend in Atlanta, Tayler Thompson joins from the bus to recap the recent games for the Bears, and the growing chemistry within the team! While Tayler is enjoying his 2nd season with the Solar Bears, we’ll find out what made him want to return to Orlando for this season, and some insight on his career before the ECHL. Thompson also talks about the awkward play earlier this season that resulted in his injury, and the injury suffered by Linesman Charlie O’Connor.

(18:11) Steven Stamkos is the Captain of the Tampa Bay Lightning, and last night in the teams’ first game back from a 10 game break, he did the most Captain thing he could! The road gets tougher for the Bolts in February with an intense schedule, but the current rumors are the hot topic with a name Bryan threw out a few weeks ago possibly coming to the Bay! We’ll also recap the All Star Game weekend for the 3 Lightning players visiting San Jose.

(26:52) Sidney Crosby was the NHL All Star Game MVP, and at this stage in his career, can you still hate him? We’ll mention some players, like Crosby, who have become the “old guard” in the NHL and their place in the league. We’ll recap the All Star Game Weekend as a whole, including the Skills competition results, even though Bryan is kind of over some of the events. And of course, ‘tis the season…for Trade activity and rumors!

Episode 13 – Former Solar Bears Captain Eric Baier, Bolts Deadline and All Star Stuff!

(3:51) Eric Baier, former Captain of the Solar Bears, joins Bryan and Bacon to talk about his career as a Solar Bear, as the team announces their Celebrity Classic Game, in which Eric will play! We’ll talk about Baier’s current role with the club, as well as the reasons He and his Brother Paul had for coming to Orlando in the ’13-’14 season. Also, did Baier always have it in his plans to be a Coach?

(23:08) The All-Star Break is upon us, and the Bolts got snubbed! One of their players should absolutely be in San Jose this weekend, as you’ll learn in the segment. Also, Bryan has been looking for something the Bolts can do at the Trade Deadline, and he found it! Find out what the Lightning could do to improve their seemingly perfect team, and recap the last weekends game.

(33:45) Edmonton’s recent management changes were a long time coming, after 4 years of foolish moves since drafting Connor McDavid. We’ll go over some headlines around the league, including a reunion and trade deadline buzz! We’ll preview the weekend events around the All Star Game…and of course…Gritty.

Episode 12 – OSB D Kevin Lohan, RawCharge.com’s Matt Esteves and IGGY!

(4:37) Kevin Lohan, Solar Bears Defenseman, calls in from the Bus as the team travels to South Carolina for their weekend games against the Stingrays. We talk about Kevin’s first goal with the Solar Bears and his take on the team’s weekend series vs. the Norfolk Admirals. Lohan shares a glimpse into his Youth in Hockey, from his roots in Long Island, NY – through to his College Hockey at BC.

(20:47) Matt Esteves from RawCharge.com joins Hockey Now to discuss the world of the Lightning. Andrei Vasilevskiy carries some important statistics to prove his worth as the Lightning Goaltender, and Matt offers his thoughts of the overall confidence in the team, from Fans, Players and Coaches. What to look for in the 2nd half of the season and the possibility of Trade Deadline activity!

(38:16) IGGY!!! Jerome Iginla is set to have his number retired by the Calgary Flames after his 16 year career there. Walt and Bryan remember Iggy’s most memorable moments. There won’t be another World Cup of Hockey anytime soon, is it a sign of bad things to come? It’s finally here! THE TRADE DEADLINE CHATTER!!!

Episode 11 – Solar Bears Forward Trevor Olson, The Lightning Train, and the awful Rangers!

3:16 – Orlando Solar Bears Forward Trevor Olson joins Hockey Now, after their 5-2 loss to Norfolk. Olson shares his thoughts on the Solar Bears recent schedule and the impact that AHL Call-Ups has had on their team. Also, Trevor tells Bryan and Bacon about his Amateur Hockey experience, including his National Championship won with North Dakota, and some of the NHL-caliber teammates he’s had in his career!

21:04 – This week’s Lightning segment starts with a clip from Bolts defensemen Ryan McDonagh explaining how the teams one loss to San Jose last weekend inspired the team to bounce back with a dominating effort vs. Columbus. Nikita Kucherov achieves yet another milestone in this years season, and we discuss what the Lightning could do to improve. Spoiler alert: they’re already very damn good!

32:10 – Bryan’s patience and understanding with the New York Rangers has finally come to a head. What is the key problem with the Rangers this year, and can the team move along from fan favorites with ease? The NHL Trade Deadline is quickly approaching, and targets are finally being named! Who are the players with most value coming up to the deadline, and which teams will be in the market for upgrades. Also, some quick hit headlines around the league.

A New Year with the Solar Bears and HC Drake Berehowsky!

Head Coach Drake Berehowsky joins Hockey Now after the Solar Bears 2-1 loss to the Greenville Swamp Rabbits in their first game of the New Year! Coach Berehowsky shares his thoughts on the slow start to the Calendar Year, and comments on the AHL players who have played in the Bears uniform from both Syracuse and San Jose. Also, Drake gives Solar Bears fans a glimpse into what to look for from their newest assignee from Syracuse, Olivier Archambault.

Solar Bears talk with Hunter Fejes!

Orlando Solar Bears leading scorer Hunter Fejes joins the show to talk about the teams recent 2 game home/home sweep of the Florida Everblades and the solidifying of the defensive play of the team. Also, Fejes give an insight to the differences between the AHL and ECHL game. Then we focus on Hunter’s time at the “Harvard for Hockey”, Shattuck St. Mary’s in Minnesota, what the experience there did for his game, and the ongoing impact it has on his life and career.
